Hindus critical of university tuition hike in UK

NEVADA - Hindus have strongly urged United Kingdom (UK) to not take away the accessibility to higher education from the youth by raising the university tuition.

Well known Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that the proposed sharp tuition fee hike was like abandoning the most vulnerable section of British citizens. Besides ending up in unreasonable debts on all students, it would heavily affect students from poorer background, creating further hurdles in their education.

Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, argued that it appeared that the country was gambling away the future of its youth for some other selfish agenda. He urged Archbishop of Canterbury Dr. Rowan Douglas Williams and other religious leaders to come out openly against the tuition fee increase.

Students have been protesting in UK against the proposed tuition hike which will mean it being almost tripled, three ministerial aides resigned over this issue, many police officers and demonstrators hurt in clashes, many arrested, parliament voted with 323 supporting the hike and 302 against, windows of Prince Charles’ car got smashed, etc.,

According to an estimate, with this hike a middle-earning graduate have to earn an average of over 77, 000 dollars for 26 years to pay off his/her debt.(ANI)
