Kannada drama actor Doddanagowda remembered

NEW DELHI - A large number of Kannada writers, artists, professors and academicians paid tributes here on Thursday to the distinguished Kannada drama actor late Dr. Joladarashi Doddanagowda on his birth centenary.

Inaugurating the celebration organised by “Dehali Kannadiga” a Kannada monthly published from Delhi, its editor M.B. Samaga said: “Doddanagowda started a new area in Kannada drama.

“He has written many Kannada dramas including Kanakadasa and Basavanna and became famous by acting many roles including Srikrishna, Kanakadasa, Basavanna,” Samaga added.

Doddanagowda received Karnataka Nataka Academy in 1967, Karnataka Rajyotsava Award in 1985, Karnataka University Honorary Doctorate in 1988.

He presided All India Kannada Folk Literary Conference in 1967 in Gokak. (ANI)
