BHUBANESWAR - Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on Thursday wound up his Orissa visit after cancelling his interaction programme with tribal students at Baripada due to bad weather.

Gandhi, who was scheduled to meet tribal students at Shahid Smruti Bhavan in Baripada, had to cancel the programme because of bad weather.

Gandhi had also cancelled a similar interaction session with students in the western Orissa town of Sambalpur on Wednesday due to bad weather.

However, he did manage to interact with students in Cuttack and Berhampur.

On Wednesday, addressing a function at Shaheed Bhavan, Gandhi spoke about the states which have not seen development in the recent time.

“Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, these are the belts which are facing problems. The other states are rapidly developing,” said Gandhi.

Further answering a question, Gandhi differentiated between a citizen and a lawmaker by saying that the lawmaker has to bear much more responsibilities as compared to an individual person.

“There is a difference between an MP and an individual person. At 18 you are responsible for yourself. As an MP you are not responsible for yourself, you are responsible for other people as well. I am responsible not only for myself, but I am responsible for two and a half, three million people who revere me,” said Gandhi.

The students were glad after interacting with Gandhi.

“It was a great experience. Whatever questions were asked to him, he replied in a good manner,” said Shubha Mishra, a student. (ANI)
