BEIJING - Huang Huikang, the Chinese Foreign Ministry’s special representative for climate change talks, has said that his country would make compromises in the negotiation process, but “not on key issues.”

According to China Daily, Huang emphasized that China would make no compromise on two track negotiations, no compromise if interests of the developing countries are violated, and no compromise on the second period of commitment under the Kyoto Protocol.

He further stated that suggestions made by developed countries to replace the Bali roadmap with a new proposal cannot be accepted by developing countries, and urged all parties to reach a legally-binding outcome as early as possible.

Without a continuation of the KP commitment, there will be “no balanced outcome at all,” he added. (ANI)
