NEW DELHI - The recent disclosure made by Wikileaks regarding the role of India in developments in the region will have no impact on India- US relationship, according to highly placed sources here.
“We have been in touch with United States Government over the last few days. They (US) expressed how unhappy and regretful they are that it (the leaks) happened and obviously they need to take steps to deal with the situation”, the source said.
Commenting on recent disclosures made by Wikileaks, the source said: India US relations are at a stage that there is a maturity about relationship with the United States. We have many issues on which we have been able to see common ground, including the texture and the quality of the discussion we have on Afghanistan which are certainly very useful to India as well as America.
“We discuss Pakistan, we have a very productive dialogue on East Asia whether its on China, whether its on south East Asia and the situation in Myanmar,” the source added.
India and the US have been in touch ever since the disclosure made by the Whistleblower website revealed the leaked cables. Under Secretary William Burns and US Ambassador Timothy Roemer have been in touch with Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao.(ANI)
