MUMBAI - The Thai Gem and Jewellery Traders Association organized a jewellery exhibition to promote Thai jewellery here on Thursday.
Varieties of gold and diamond jewellery in various colours were displayed in the exhibition.
Interacting with mediapersons, the Thai Gem and Jewellery Traders Association vice-president, Atul Jogani, said as Indian consumers are wearing diamond jewellery for centuries, the exhibition showcased jewellery with coloured stones.
“Thailand and India have a Free Trade Agreement (FTA). So, we have one percent duty on jewellery only. So, we are trying to promote Thai jewellery in Indian market. People in India from thousand years are wearing diamonds. So, how do you add more into diamond and jewellery?” said Jogani.
“The only thing which we can add is colours so we are bringing Thailand jewellery of coloured stone to Indian consumers,” he added.
An Indian jewellery designer Nita Binani said the jewellery displayed in the exhibition had a fresh look and ranked high on quality scale.
“I am very much interested in jewellery. I like Thailand jewellery very much. Their finishing, their work and everything is high-end and very nice,” said Binani.
