Chandigarh hosts Renewable Energy Expo.

CHANDIGARH - A three-day-long unique Renewable Energy Expo was held here, showcasing a variety of renewable and solar energy products.

The ‘International Conference on Renewable Energy 2010 (ICORE)’ kicked off from Wednesday and will conclude on Friday.

Interacting with mediapersons, Secretary General of Solar Energy Society of India Ajinder Kumar Kaura, said the renewable energy resources have vast scope in the country, and is also beneficial for the economy.

“This technology will keep India out of recession. There is so much chance to have employment for rural people, so much chance for IIT guys to do the roof-topping, you have got the poly-technique, there is engineers, there is so much research for all the IITs, all the engineering colleges, they can have their own research,” said Kaura.

“Government is giving a lot of money under the Jawahar Lal Nehru mission. So I believe this is an explosion and the cake is very big. Even I need to bring my competitor to eat it to fulfill the target of the Government of India,” he added.

Various renowned companies like Reliance, Bergen, Punjab Energy Development agency (PEDA), Indo solar and Maharishi Solar Technologies showcased their latest products and equipments in the expo.

Visitors from across the country appreciated the products and its usage.

“So many technologies are introduced here. Various models, which were of 50-watt power, are now 300-watt power. New power plants are also coming. Five-10 megawatt ton allotment is also being given to the companies,” said Manish Shukla, a visitor from Delhi. By Sunil Sharma (ANI)
