Irish woman accused of raping female says she just kissed the victim

MELBOURNE - The Irish woman, who allegedly raped a woman in the toilets of an inner-Brisbane city hotel, has claimed that she kissed the victim but never raped her.

Anne-Marie O’Loughlin, 25, has pleaded not guilty to two counts of rape and one each of deprivation of liberty and sexual assault in the incident that took place at Brisbane’s Caxton Hotel on November 29, 2008.

The Brisbane District Court jury heard that she was shocked to have been accused of “touching her up”.

The jury was shown a videotaped police record of interview in which O’Loughlin said it was possible she kissed her alleged victim and had in the past woken up in bed alongside “three of four” naked women.

O’Loughlin, who often mentioned having a boyfriend during the interview, said the first she knew of the alleged attack when the so-called victim’s “boyfriend or husband” confronted her outside the hotel.

“I remember him accusing me (of sexually assaulting his partner)… a couple of times … (and) saying I wouldn’t get away with it,” the Courier Mail quoted O’Loughlin as saying in the interview with police.

“I was shocked, extremely shocked. I’ve never done anything like that ever, ever, ever.

“I’ve never done anything like that in my entire life and can’t see myself changing … full sto,” she added. (ANI)
