LAHORE - Terming the latest WikiLeaks release as a conspiracy to harm Pakistan’s ties with Islamic countries, Federal Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Dr Babar Awan, has said that Pakistan’s relations with Saudi Arabia will be strengthened further.

Awan made these comments while addressing the participants of a ceremony held at former FIA director Riaz Ahmed Sheikh and MPA Shabina Riaz’s residence on Monday in connection with the Pakistan Peoples Party’s Foundation Day celebrations, the Daily Times reported.

He said that the revelation of secret US documents by WikiLeaks were extremely negative, misguiding, and contrary to the facts on Pakistan-Saudi relations.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have long-term and strong relations, Awan said, and questioned why such revelations did not surface about Israel.

“The government and people of Pakistan gave much importance to the association with Saudi Arabia. The Royal family and the people of Saudi Arabia always stood by Pakistan. Some quarters wanted to defame Pakistan in the Islamic bloc that gave much importance to it,” he stated. (ANI)
