PESHAWAR - Approximately one lakh rupees is required to equip one militant fighting coalition forces in Afghanistan, a fundraiser working for the Taliban has revealed.
“We need between Rs 80,000 and Rs 100,000 to arm a combatant and meet his other needs such as food and dress,” the Daily Times quoted the Taliban fundraiser, as saying, on the first day of Eid-ul-Azha.
“Taliban believe we are getting closer to the victory every single day. So, if these last months of the war are survived and fought well the occupiers will exit from Afghanistan sooner than scheduled withdrawal,” he added.
During Eid, different charity and banned militant organisations were in a race to collect the hides of sacrificial animals to generate cash when the national economy is in recession. The Taliban also spread out many volunteers, who visited mosques in remote villages to seek donations by making emotional speeches.
“We are fighting a war for Islamic emirate in Afghanistan, and mujahideen deserve your financial support to complete the mission, which is nearing a great success,” said the fundraiser, addressing a small group of people after they finished their Asr prayers in a remote village mosque.
“We will not press you to make big donations, you may donate as little as possible but you all need to be among those who are funding the jihad to win Allah’s blessing,” the 20-something man added. A number of people donated following his speech. (ANI)
