Christians slam TV channel for ‘mocking Jesus birth’

LONDON - Plans of screening live footage of baby birth on Christmas Day by Channel 4 have outraged religious groups.
Christians have condemned the channel bosses for ‘mocking’ the birth of Jesus and the meaning of Christmas in the five-hour festive special.
Channel 4 is setting up a special studio in a maternity hospital for ‘One Born At Christmas’.
Coverage of the births would be screened in pre-recorded and live footage in the special show on December 25, which would go head-to-head with the Queen’s Speech.
A Channel 4 source said the show would also be documenting Christmas Day births as they happen around the UK on a special ‘Gurgle Earth’ map.
But a spokesman for pro-family campaign group Family Focus dismissed the planned show as being “simply awful”.
“It will make for gruesome viewing. I cannot see the point of this program,” the Daily Star quoted Adrian Rogers as saying.
Steve Green, of Christian Voice said, “Those of us with faith will be celebrating a birth on this special day - the birth of Jesus Christ.”
A C4 source insisted they were not intending to mock the birth of Christ, saying, “Surely no day is more fitting to celebrate a new birth than Christmas Day”. (ANI)
