LONDON - An Indian-origin Singh family is the occupant of the Southall house where Prince William’s fiancee Kate Middleton’s mother once lived — and they are mighty pleased about the royal connection.
Kate Middleton’s mother Carole grew up in the small house in Southall, London, in the early sixties.
Carole, who is a wealthy businesswoman, didn’t lead a life of luxury as a child. Infact, Carole and her brother Gary were brought up in relative poverty by their parents, shop assistant Dorothy and lorry driver Ronald Goldsmith, Daily Express reported Thursday.
When they lived there, it was a staunchly working class area with many residents working in nearby factories.
The present occupants of the house in Hartington Road, the Singh family, were not aware that their home was connected to the Middletons.
Jorawar Singh, a 23-year-old warehouse worker, shares the property with his five cousins and brothers.
I would never have thought that anyone related to the Royal Family would live in this house. Im very surprised but this is good news for the area, Jorawar was quoted as saying.
His cousin, Amarpreet Kaur, said: Im very pleased. Were lucky to have a house with such a history.
Thirtytwo-year-old shop manager Resham Nirmal said: The mum of the future Queen lived here? Incredible. It makes me feel royal as well.
