Philadelphia Marathon Lifts Spirits Higher

PHILADELPHIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The Philadelphia Marathon which was started way back in 1954, has come a long way. On Saturday, the city of Philadelphia was seen buzzing with the spirit of the marathon race scheduled to begin on Sunday.

Around 20,000 runners from all across the world have come to the city to take part in this big event. The Philadelphia Marathon will be starting out on Sunday morning around 7 while a mini-marathon marked its beginning on Saturday morning, which came to an end in the late afternoon. The weekend race started out with the Rothman Institute, on the Ben Franklin Parkway. Rothman Institute 8-K is a small marathon which accompanies the main marathon for 8 kms, comprising of almost 3,000 runners. Around, 40,000 people had turned up to witness this grand event. Throughout the entire day they were seen cheering aloud and bubbling with never ending energy. Almost 11,000 runners will take part in the main marathon while thousands of people participated in a mini-marathon.

According to sources, both runners and non-runners will be a part of the Philadelphia Marathon. Some have participated with the true spirit of sportsmanship, while some are claiming to have come as a result of the struggles they are encountering in personal life, while some people just want to be a part of it, to have fun. After the end of Saturday’s race, runners were seen refreshing themselves at a pasta party, organized in the Spaghetti Warehouse, on the Spring Garden Street. This weekend has undoubtedly started off with high spirits for the Philadelphia residents who are quite elated with the grand event happening in the city.
