NEVADA - In a remarkable interfaith gesture, Hindu statesman Rajan Zed blessed the “Adventure in Faith Celebration Commitment Brunch” of Unity Church of Today in Carson City (Nevada, USA) with mantras from ancient Hindu scriptures.

Brunch was held at the culmination of the Church’s seven-week program designed to increase awareness of spiritual prosperity.

Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, read the Gayatri mantra, the most sacred mantra of Hinduism, in Sanskrit and the attendees repeated after him. Then he read from Brahadaranyakopanisad in Sanskrit and the participants again repeated after him.

Wearing saffron colored attire, a ruddraksh mala (rosary), and traditional sandalpaste tilak (religious mark) on the forehead, and reading from Taittiriya Upanisad, Zed said: Food is Brahman (supreme Godhead), From food are born all creatures, By food they grow, And to food they return.

Church President Fred Uptergrove and Church Minister Reverend Larry Schneider thanked Rajan Zed for the blessings.

Unity, headquartered at Lee’s Summit in Missouri (USA) and founded in 1889 by Charles and Myrtle Fillmore, is “a positive, practical, progressive approach to Christianity based on the teachings of Jesus and the power of prayer”. Current CEO is Charlotte Shelton. .(ANI)
