LONDON - Prince William popped the question to Kate Middleton as they stayed in a hut in Kenya.

The couple wrote in a visitors’ book after their romantic trip last month to the log cabin.

Kate said she had a “wonderful 24 hours” at the Kenyan hideaway.

The future Queen described their one-night stay at the log cabin retreat as “so romantic”.

And she detailed how she and Wills celebrated their engagement by candlelight in front of a roaring fire.

“Thank you for such a wonderful 24 hours!” the Sun quoted her as writing.

“Sadly no fish to be found but we had great fun trying. I love the warm fires and candle lights - so romantic! Hope to be back again soon,” she wrote.

Kate - seen as a natural successor to “Queen of Hearts” Princess Diana - signed the note Catherine Middleton.

Wills, who has been to the remote Rutundu Log Cabins complex several times, also signed the visitors’ book.

He joked about how cold it can get at the retreat, which lies 10,500ft up Africa’s second highest peak.

And dating his note “20th-21st October 2010″, he wrote in blue ink: “Such fun to be back! Brought more clothes this time!

“Looked after so well. Thank you guys! Look forward to next time, soon I hope,” he wrote. (ANI)
