Heroin worth Rs. 25 crore seized in Amritsar

AMRITSAR - Punjab Police have recovered heroin worth Rs. 25 crore and huge cache of arms from Amritsar.

The recovery was made after Punjab Police received specific information that Pakistan-based smugglers were transporting a huge consignment of heroin and arms from the border areas of the region.

Based on those leads, a squad of the Punjab Police tightened vigilance across the city to intercept the cache of heroin.

According to police officials, the consignment contained five packets of heroin weighing one kilogram each, one AK-47 Assault Riffle, five magazines, 130 cartridges, one belt to carry ammunition and two Pakistani SIM cards.

“We have recovered an AK-57, five magazines, 130 cartridges, belt to carry ammunition, two Pakistani SIM cards and five kilograms of heroin,” said Manvinder Singh, Assistant Inspector General of Punjab Police.

Meanwhile, Police has registered case under section 21/25/29/61/85 NDPS 25/54/59 Arms Act in this regard. (ANI)
