India allows Mumbai terror attack case CIO to deliver his account to Pak via video link

ISLAMABAD - The Indian government has allowed the Chief Investigation Officer (CIO) of the Mumbai attack case- Ramesh Mahelay- to give his account to Pakistani authorities by means of video link technology.

Mahelay will make his statement via video link amid the hearing of a trial, which is currently underway against the accused suspects- including Zaki-ur-Rehman- arrested in Pakistan and kept in Adyala Jail, Geo News reported.

According to the documents obtained by the channel, the Pakistan Foreign Office has received a letter from the Indian External Affairs Ministry, expressing willingness to allow the Indian CIO of the Mumbai case to deliver his account being the witness in the trial, which is being heard against the accused in Adyala Jail in Rawalpindi.

Meanwhile, India has also unconditionally agreed upon the Pakistani request to allow the lady magistrate, who had recorded the statement of Ajmal Qasaab, a suspect in Mumbai attack case who is currently in Indian captivity, to present in Pakistani court via video link.

The letter also stated that Qasaab had pleaded guilty of the terrorist attack under 164 Act of the Indian constitution, and that he had made several revelations regarding other suspects accused in the Mumbai terror attack case during the in-camera trial.

Subsequently, India has asked the Pakistani authorities for details on correspondence over this issue. (ANI)
