LONDON - Authorities in Yemen have released the 22-year-old woman suspected of posting two parcel bombs that were found on cargo planes in the UK and Dubai.
Reports said Hanan al Samawi was bailed on the condition that she presents herself to officials “whenever requested”.
An engineering student, al Samawi was detained along with her mother after being traced by a receipt for the packages.
US counter-terrorism chief John Brennan said one person constructed the packages and the device worn by Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, who botched an attack over Detroit last December.
“I think that the indications are right now based on forensic analysis that the individual responsible for putting these devices together is the same,” he said.
n Yemen, Samawi’s legal team told Sky News she was innocent and had been tricked.
Radhia Khairan said her client is a woman of “good morals” who has shown “no criminal side up to now”. (ANI)
