Britain’s first newspaper in 25 years ‘for people on the go’

LONDON - Britain’s first daily newspaper has been launched and is being touted as the paper for ‘time-poor’.
The tabloid-format ‘i’, which comes from the same stable as The Independent, costs 20p and is aimed at those who don’t have the time to sit in one place and read a complete paper in one go.
With 56 pages, it promises to “combine intelligence with brevity and depth with speed of reading”, reports the Daily Star.
The editorial staff is the same as the Independent, which along with the London Evening Standard is owned by Russian tycoon Alexander Lebedev.
“Time-poor newspaper readers, and especially commuters, have been telling us for years that they are inundated with information and just don’t have the time to read a quality newspaper on a regular basis,” said Independent executive Andrew Mullins.
Media commentator Roy Greenslade has described i as “a populist alter ego to the Independent”. (ANI)
