CHAPRA/RAMNAGAR - Campaigning for the ongoing State Assembly polls, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has advocated upliftment of the poor for the development in Bihar.
Commenting on the Nitish Kumar-led Government in the State with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as an alliance partner, Rahul Gandhi said Bihar is not shining and National Democratic Alliance (NDA) members should understand this.
“Without lending a helping hand to the poor and the needy, political parties will never be able to garner power and rule the people,” Gandhi asserted, while addressing a rally at Ramnagar on Monday.
“Ministers of National Democratic Party (Alliance) please listen to these words and try to understand for your benefit. Future of India is in the hands of poor people. Progress of the country depends upon the welfare of the people,” he added.
Rahul Gandhi further said the Congress has provided many facilities for the welfare of the people of Bihar by providing land to the tribal people, through the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) scheme and by recently allocating Rs 6000 billion to the farmers.
“Poor people, farmers and labourers run this country and the Government, which forgets these fundamental facts would have to bite the dust. Future of India is in the hands of the poor people. The country runs with the sweat of the poor people, the farmers and the labourers,” said Rahul Gandhi.
“The Government which forgets these fundamentals has to face defeat in the elections. The Congress party is also looking forward to provide Right to Education and Right to Nationality,” he added.
Rahul Gandhi also addressed a public rally in Bihar’s Chapra city to woo voters.
