LONDON - While the world is trying to bounce back from the recession, bankers in the UK are recklessly blowing a fortune on lap dancers - even as half a million workers face the axe.

Spearmint Rhino club has noticed a 35 percent rise in the number of city workers rushing to its club in London’s West End and blowing money without any count.

“I’ve been in LA, Vegas, Florida, but these guys are something else. I don’t get it. I see that 500,000 people are going to lose their jobs but in the past eight weeks here it’s been like unreal. It’s like there are two extremes - the poor and the extremely rich,” the Sun quoted boss John Specht as saying.

One high-flyer spent 18,480 pounds on dances in one night - almost equal to the average annual UK salary whereas another bought 12 bottles of Cristal.

A group of City workers spent 30,000 on dances last off late and one spent 2,500 pounds on a bottle of Louis XIII cognac - mixed some with Coca-Cola and left the bottle.

“We’ve got staff that have been here eight or nine years, they’ve never seen anything like it,” he added.

Spearmint is making so much money it has reopened the club on Tottenham Court Road at lunchtime and will spend 475,000 pounds on a new club in Leicester creating dozens of jobs.

“I mean I love these bankers, I want to know how they do it,” John concluded jokingly. (ANI)
