LONDON - A Florida man has been awarded 650,000 dollars for injuries he suffered during a lap dance at a strip club.
Michael Ireland suffered an eye injury in the Cheetah Club, near West Palm Beach, Florida, in 2008 when he got too close to one stripper during her performance.
The stiletto heel of the woman, named ‘Suki’, punctured his eye socket and broke bones around his eye and nose.
Ireland, a roofer, suffered permanent double vision as a result of the impact with his eye and his lawyer, Lake Lytal, furthered the talks with the club, which proffered out of court settlement.
“When this case was first filed, many people criticised it simply because it occurred at a strip club. But we feel the 650,000 dollars settlement goes to show that this was a serious case with serious injuries,” the Daily Mail quoted the lawyer as saying.
Last year the manager of the club, Rod Kimborough, claimed the dance had lashed out after being smacked on the bottom. (ANI)
