LONDON - A senior Liberal Democrat MP Mike Hancock was arrested over allegations that he tried to indecently assault a single mum who went to him for help.

The married Portsmouth South MP was interviewed under caution about claims he tried to seduce the woman, reports The Sun.

The woman went to ask help for noisy neighbours and complaints about her healthcare, but instead, Hancock took her to dinner in the Commons and bought her clothes, perfume, wine and a teddy bear, she said.

The MP spent two hours talking to detectives at a Hampshire police station. He was released on bail until January without charge.

“I was cautioned, gave my version of events, and co-operated fully,” Hancock said.

Asked if he expected the charges to be dropped, he said, “That’s for the police to decide.” (ANI)
