ISLAMABAD - Islamabad wants to have a meaningful dialogue with New Delhi over the the Kashmir issue, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said here.

Qureshi told mediapersons after chairing a meeting of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs that Pakistan has maintained its historical and principled stance on the issue.

He stated that India has been told that the next session of dialogue should be result-oriented as opposed to being a mere photo session, Dawn reported Wednesday.

On Sep 22, Qureshi asked the US and the international community to help resolve the Kashmir issue.

The international community must recognise that the people of Kashmir, in an entirely indigenous upsurge, are demanding their right to self-determination, Qureshi claimed.

Qureshi asked India to take a fresh look at the evolving situation in the territory and sit down with Pakistan to resolve the issue.

Dialogue is the only way forwardWe can do it, he said.
