LONDON - Abdul Jabbar, a Briton killed in a US drone attack in Pakistan was reportedly a resident of Birmingham, who boasted he would bring holy war to Britain.

According to The Sun, Jabbar told his fellow fanatics that he dreamed of recruiting hundreds of terrorists to a new group called ‘The Islamic Army of Great Britain,’ which was revealed in a surveillance operation against al-Qaeda and the Taliban.

Jabbar was a citizen of the United Kingdom and had a British wife.

A UK security source has said that he lived in Birmingham.

“He fancied himself as a much bigger fish than he actually was. And his boasting cost him his life. A genuinely senior al-Qaeda figure would not have made such a foolish mistake,” the source added.

Meanwhile, Pakistani security sources claimed that Jabbar had links to Faisal Shahzad, who was jailed on Monday for trying to blow up New York’s Times Square. (ANI)
