ISLAMABAD - Enraged by former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf’s candid confession that Pakistan trained underground militant groups to fight against India in Kashmir, the opposition leader, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, said that the Pakistan government should take serious notice of Musharraf’s statement, which was totally against national interests.

“The recent statements issued by him also reflect his morality and personal character,” the Daily Times quoted Nisar, as saying.

Noting that India had quickly reacted to his remarks by claiming that it had always held that point of view, he said, “The best way to prevent Musharraf from issuing further statements against national interests is to book him under Article 6 of the constitution and bring him back to the country.”

“Nobody is above the constitution. The scared cows should also come within the ambit of the constitution of the Pakistan,” he said, while referring to the controversial statement of Musharraf in which he had talked about the alleged involvement of Pakistan in Kashmir.

Urging the government to hold Musharraf accountable for his misdeeds, he asked them to immediately approach Interpol for his extradition, so that he could be taken to task for breaching the constitution on two occasions, massacre of innocent Lal Masjid students, Akbar Bugti’s murder, putting judges behind the bars and several other wrongdoings.

The opposition leader said he would also quote a female PML-Q parliamentarian who had called Musharraf a characterless man.

Parliamentary Committee on National Security Chairman, Raza Rabbani, also condemned Musharraf’s Kashmir statement.

“The statement is purely based on Pervrez Musharraf’s personal opinion,” Raza Rabbani said, adding that India’s reaction to his statement indicated that that the former president has become a threat also to Pakistan’s integrity. (ANI)
