WASHINGTON - In a previous interview, the Delaware Republican Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell had said that before becoming Christian she tried her hands on various religions, but skipped becoming a Hare Krishna - as she didn’t want to be vegetarian, it has emerged.

Maher aired a clip of O’Donnell on his show ‘Real Time with Bill Maher’ from a 1999 interview from Maher’s of ‘Politically Incorrect’, reports CBS News.

A video of the clip was later posted on the Think Progress website:

O’Donnell: “I was dabbling into every other kind of religion before I became a Christian.”

Maher: “You were a witch!”

O’Donnell: “I was! I was!”

Maher: “You were.”

O’Donnell: “I was dabbling in witchcraft. I’ve dabbled in Buddhism. I wanted to become a Hare Krishna but I didn’t want to become a vegetarian. And that is honestly the reason why - because I’m Italian, I love meatballs.”

Maher: “Boy, are you spiritual.”

The interview, originally broadcast on ABC on July 9, 1999, actually predates the interview clip released by Maher two weeks ago in which O’Donnell admitted to having “dabbled into witchcraft.” (ANI)
