LAHORE - Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has reportedly failed to get a positive response from other political parties despite the formation of his All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) party.

According to Daily Times, only a young and unfamiliar Pakistan Citizen Movement (PCM) has encouraged Musharraf in Lahore, and announced an immediate merger with the APML.

PCM is a young political party founded five years ago, but it has experience of electoral politics after participating in the 2008 general elections.

Earlier, on Friday, Musharraf announced his decision to join politics by formally launching his party in a ceremony in London.

Talking to participants, Musharraf had said that he decided to join politics because there was no politician in Pakistan capable of getting the country out of the multiple challenges it faces.

He also claimed that the country had progressed under his nine-year rule, but admitted that he had committed some political mistakes. (ANI)
