Leon Panetta to pressurise Pak to lie low over Kashmir issue, Indo-US arms deal

ISLAMABAD - Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director Leon Panetta is expected to visit Pakistan this week, reportedly for pressurising Islamabad to stay cool over the Indo-US arms deal and the Kashmir issue.
According to well-placed sources, to get the multibillion-dollar deal between India and the US through, Panetta would urge the Pakistan’s top leadership to stay cool, The Nation reported.
They revealed the CIA director would also demand the Islamic nation’s political and military leadership to launch a military operation against terror networks in North Waziristan Agency.
Sources were of the view that Panetta’s visit at this point of time was aimed to highlight the terror threats from NWA, and urge the Pakistani leadership to be calm over the Indo-US arms deal and Kashmir issue, keeping in view that US President Barack Obama would be making a landmark visit to India in November.
Sources did not attach much significance to the latest US claims that the upsurge in US drone strikes on militants in the country’s northwest sought to disrupt attacks on European cities. ANI)
