Carla Bruni-Sarkozy ‘told to delay new album’

LONDON - French First Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy has reportedly been advised to delay the recording and release of her latest album so that it does not coincide with sweeping strikes taking place across France.

The wife of president Nicolas Sarkozy was advised by the Elysee to put back the date of her studio booking to avoid appearing frivolous at a time of crisis for the country, according to the magazine Paris Match.

Paris Match said that Bruni-Sarkozy had finished composing 24 songs and was ready to enter the studio to record her fourth album when Sarkozy’s team had persuaded her to wait.

“How do you release a disc in the middle of a political debacle? How will that be seen by the voters? France suffers while Madame sings,” the Telegraph quoted the report as saying.

“For the ruler’s advisers, it was urgent to postpone the studio dates. Carla has ended up resigning herself to that,” the reports added.

However, Bruni-Sarkozy’s spokesman, who told the Times that no studio date had been set, denied the report. (ANI)
