NEW DELHI - Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit assured here on Wednesday that the city is all set to host the mega event in the best possible way.

Talking about the footbridge collapse incident near the main venue of the Commonwealth Games that occurred on Tuesday, the Chief Minister said there were some problems but they were not insurmountable.

“I would like to tell you very categorically these minor hitches and glitches do come around, whenever a building is new. But to make it look as if the entire system has collapsed, I am sorry, we do not agree with that. There will be some problems, there are some problems but they are not insurmountable problems,” said Sheila Dikshit.

She also said that the work for the much-awaited event has been carried out with full flow, and all loopholes and problems would be addressed immediately.

“Everything has been done. It is natural that in such a mega event, there will be some mistakes. But it is our nation after all. If someone comes to your place or mine, we always try to present our best side. We have strived to give our best in the preparations,” said Sheila Dikshit.

Apart from around 10,000 athletes from 71 teams representing 54 Commonwealth member states, New Delhi is expecting a huge inflow of sports enthusiasts and tourists during the games.

The Commonwealth Games 2010 will be held from October 3 to 14 in New Delhi. (ANI)
