RAIPUR - Chhattisgarh police have arrested a Maoist who played the role of a messenger in Maoist camp.

Acting on a tip off, police official arrested Radheshyam Giri from Pulgaon police limits and some Naxal material and literature was seized from his possession.

“Radheshyam Giri who is a resident of Sambandhpur and for the last five years he has been living in Raipur. He had served as a communicator in the Naxal link by handing over letters to operatives besides helping them out with weapons, said Amit Agarwal, Superintendent of Police, Durg.

“Giri is an aide of Naxal spokesperson Usendi and got associated with the Maoist ideology a few years ago after completing his higher secondary education,” he added.

Maoist attacks have become more frequent this year, especially after the central government launched Operation Green Hunt, a coordinated security offensive involving tens of thousands of police and paramilitary personnel to flush out the rebels from their jungle hideouts. (ANI)
