Body of missing person found in Shopian district of Jammu-Kashmir

SRINAGAR - Jammu and Kashmir Police have recovered dead body of a person who had been missing for last fortnight from Padpawan area of State’s Shopian district.

The body has been identified to be that of Rashid Ahmad Ganai aged 25 to 26 years, son of Ghulam Hassan Ganai and a resident of Bori haran, Harpora from Padpawan area of Shopian.

The deceased was an employee in Sericulture Department.

A missing report had earlier been lodged with Police Post Harpora, and police had launched the search.

During the investigation, certain leads were followed including those provided by the mobile phone.

An alleged affair of the deceased with some female is also being investigated into.

“The dead body bore torture marks and it is apprehended that he could have been beaten before his death. Police have registered a Case in this regard and further investigations taken up,” an official release stated on Saturday. (ANI)
