NEW YORK - Michelle Obama is set to add another feat to her campaign for healthy living. She has planned to host a farm-to-table luncheon for spouses of foreign leaders who’ll visit New York City for the U.N. General Assembly.

Obama and the spouses will tour Stone Barns Center, a non-profit farm and education center located in Tarrytown, N.Y., approximately 25 miles north of Manhattan.

“Stone Barns Center is part of a national movement to create a sustainable food system that benefits the community’s health and environment. The Center teaches children, farmers, chefs and thousands of annual visitors about a better way of growing food,” the New York Post quoted from the statement released by White House in wake of the event.

The visiting spouses will also observe the Center’s children’s education program, where students from a local school will demonstrate skills of harvest vegetable and collecting eggs from pasture-raised hens, the White House said.

After the tour, Obama and the diplomats’ spouses will attend a luncheon at the acclaimed Blue Hill at Stone Barns restaurant, where they will dine on ingredients they observed during their tour of the farm.

The first lasy has been promoting healthy eating launching the “Let’s Move!” campaign to combat childhood obesity and cultivating a garden at the White House to encourage children to eat fresh fruits and vegetables. (ANI)
