LONDON - A “sadistic” Broadmoor patient, Graham Fisher, has been jailed for 21 years after admitting killing two women in East Sussex in 1998 and eating flesh from one of them.
According to the Daily Mail, 37-year-old Fisher pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Clare Letchford, (40), and widow Beryl O’Connor (75), on the grounds of diminished responsibility. Both the women were strangled and burned in their flats in Hastings, East Sussex. Fisher said he cut flesh from Ms Letchford’s arm and ate it.
Along with the two killings, Fisher also pleaded guilty in 2008, to two counts of rape of another woman in her early 40s at her home in Bromley, South-East London, in 1991. He made his confession at the high-security psychiatric hospital saying that he found it hard to live with his crimes, the court heard.
Prosecutors said Fisher targeted lonely women, some of whom he knew, to satisfy what one psychiatrist described as a ’sexually sadistic’ aspect to his personality.
After confessing to rape, Fisher reportedly told the investigators that he gained a thrill from seeing his victim frightened.
“She looked really scared but this really turned me on even more,” he said.
Fisher, deemed to have a severe and enduring complex personality disorder, also admitted cutting a piece of flesh from the arm of Ms Letchford and eating it.
He was transferred to Broadmoor under the Mental Health Act following concerns that he was a “grave danger”.
Sentencing him on Friday, Judge Justice Keith said Fisher’s detention in hospital would be subject to progress of his treatment. (ANI)
