NEW DELHI - Extending their support to the Commonwealth Games, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Friday donated two ambulances for the athletes to use during the Games.

The ambulances, fully equipped with state-of-the-art medical facilities, have been specially designed for the mega event.

“These are the ambulances we have given to the organizers of the Commonwealth Games. They will be deployed at the main venue, the shooting range at Kadarpur. Many athletes will be coming to participate in the Commonwealth Games, and these ambulances will facilitate their emergency evacuation and other medical treatment,” said Vikram Srivastava, Director General, CRPF.

“Our special troops will be deployed at 11 venues during the mega event. Their briefings are on, and the units have been stationed in the required places,” said Srivastava.

India is expecting about two million tourists for the Games, as well as about 7,000 athletes from 71 teams representing 54 Commonwealth member states which will be held from 3 to 14 October in New Delhi.

The 12-day sporting extravaganza will be India’s biggest sporting event since the 1982 Asian Games in New Delhi. (ANI)
