Tentative contract reached for Horizon Air pilots
SEATTLE — After four years of talks, regional carrier Horizon Air and the Teamsters union say they have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract for the airline’s 673 pilots.
The union said Friday it should be ready to present details of the deal to the pilots by late October, with a ratification vote to follow. No details about contract terms are being released until then.
The contract first came up in September 2006. A federal mediator was brought in last January. Under federal law, airline contracts don’t expire, so the old contract is in effect until a new one is ratified.
Horizon, a subsidiary of Alaska Air Group Inc., serves 45 cities in the West, Mexico and Canada.
