NEW DELHI - Union minister and National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah Thursday denied there was any move to make his son and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah step down.

Emerging from a meeting with Prime Minster Manmohan Singh here, Abdullah said: “There was no such move”. He was referring to speculation that Omar may be asked to step down following large-scale violence in Kashmir that has seen about 90 people dead since June 11.

Abdullah, who had earlier met Congress president Sonia Gandhi, said it was a private meeting.
