AHMEDABAD - Students took out a massive protest march here on Thursday against commercialisation of education.

Organised by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), student wing of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the demonstration had protestors demanding from the Central and State governments to take steps to curb it.

Alleging that private institutions were turning education into a moneymaking venture, the students demanded a ban on such activities across the nation.

“The central and state governments are not taking any action against the rampant commercialisation of education. We are raising our voice to convey our anger, and to stir up the government into action. The students are angry and united against this trend. We will continue our protests till the government takes measures to stop the commercialisation of education,” said Kirit Patel, an ABVP activist.

Also, the protestors halted traffic at many busy intersections across Ahmedabad. They blocked roads for over two hours during the day.

The police arrested many student leaders and baton-charged the protesters to keep the situation under control. (ANI)
