THE MOVE: Pepsi is advertising in next year’s Super Bowl after sitting out last year for the first time in more than two decades. It will air three 30-second commercials made by fans each for Pepsi MAX and Doritos.
LAST YEAR: Pepsi had been a major Super Bowl advertiser since 1987. Pepsi decided to shift spending to its “Pepsi Refresh Project,” which pays for community projects.
THE PLAY: Fans will select two ads to air for each brand, while company executives will select the remaining ad for both Pepsi MAX and Doritos.
