Jat protests flare up again in Hisar, Jind railway station set on fire

HISAR - Jat protests flared up again in Haryana’s Hisar District on Wednesday despite government claims that the agitation has been called off following a compromise.rotesters demanding a quota under the OBC category blocked the national highway and also set fire to the railway station at Jind.

Protesters say they will block the highway indefinitely if their demands are not met. They denied reports of any compromise with the state government.

On Tuesday, Haryana Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda said the crisis had ended after an agreement with the protesters.

“We have agreed to meet the demands of Jats. The Haryana Government will give compensation and jobs to those injured,” he said.

Earlier, protestors set fire to a few vehicles, including an oil tanker. Two buses of the Haryana Roadways were also set on fire near Surrewala Chowk.

Violence broke out in some areas on Monday, during which one person was killed and several injured as police opened fire. (ANI)
