LONDON - A Belgian couple has set a new trend for couples wanting to get married in an unusual way, by first saying their vows and then bungee jumping off a platform set mid-air.
Jeroen and Sandra Kippers are the world’s first couple to get married in this fashion.hey and the vicar were hoisted up 160ft on an enormous crane platform accompanied by up to 20 guests, strapped into chairs along the side with their legs left dangling.
A second platform, hosting an orchestra and a pianist, was lined up beside them to give the ceremony an authentic feel.
The pair, from Brussels, Belgium, then wed before bravely bungee jumping off the edge.
Since the couple tied the knot, dozens more have been queuing up to copy the unusual wedding ceremony, which sets couples back almost 25,000 pounds.
The company behind the scheme, Marriage in the Sky, has been inundated with requests from couples desperate to fling themselves off the end of the aisle.
And the thrill does not end there, as once the wedding party have all been lowered back to earth, guests can head skywards again for a floating reception.
Wedding guests are wowed with a three-course wedding breakfast while strapped in to their dining chairs.
“Marriage in the Sky is a marriage celebrated in heaven for couples who want to bring their chapel a little closer to angels on their wedding day by raising it 50m up in the air,” the Sun quoted company founder, Stefan Kerkhofs, who is also the brainchild behind terrifying game show Fear Factor, as saying.
“Marriage is a big jump, you don’t know what’s coming - and this is exactly the same thing,” he added. (ANI)
