Major fire at power grid station in Ludhiana

LUDHIANA - About 20 fire tenders had to be pressed into service here after a power grid station was up in flames on Saturday night.

The flames also engulfed a three-wheeler parked closed to the place of incident.

The police authorities described it a “major fire”.

“The incident took place at around 10 pm (local time). The reason of the fire is yet to be known. It is a major fire. About 15 to 20 fire fighting vehicles were put in service. Now the fire has subsided a little,” said Gurvinder Singh, Station House Officer. Ludhiana Police Station.

Meanwhile, the local residents were made to bear with an interrupted electricity supply, as authorities, who are investigating the cause of the inferno, switched off the power in the area as a safety measure. (ANI)
