GAYA - Suspected Maoists set ablaze several houses including house of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Dhanraj Sharma in Kotiya village in Bihar’s Gaya District.
The local police disclosed this at Imamaganj on Friday.
Sharma is the vice-President of BJP’s Gaya unit. As per reports, over two-dozen armed rebels set the house of Shrama on fire on Thursday.
“After setting ablaze the house, other things in the house were also destroyed, and the police are still on its search operations. In totality, there were six to seven houses…Action would be taken immediately, and guilty would be arrested for sure,” said Rashid Parvez, an inspector at Imamganj Police Station.
According to police, the Maoists held a people’s court, which passed an order for the ‘attachment of properties’ of Dhanraj Sharma and his close aides which included the Bihar Assembly Speaker U N Choudhary, and eight others at Kotiya village of the district for working against them.
Maoists had allegedly warned Choudhary against his initiatives to build a road in the region before the upcoming elections in the State. (ANI)
