Encounter with Maoists in Jharkhand ends

DUMKA - The encounter between security forces and Naxals in the hilly jungles of Jama block in Jharkhand’s Dumka District on Friday has come to an end.

A police sub-inspector has been killed and other two policemen injured.

“The officer-in-charge of Jama police station Satanand Singh died on the spot when a bullet hit him in the head during the gunfight,” said Jharkhand’s Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police B K Pandey.

Two others, including a constable of Special Task Force were injured in the same gun battle.

Senior police personnel were rushed from Ranchi to review the situation.

The encounter had begun early this morning. (ANI)
