RANCHI - Naxal freed Bihar Military Police (BMP) constable Ehsaan Khan returned to his home in Gore village, about 45 kilometres from Jharkhand capital Ranchi on Tuesday, and was given a rousing welcome by his family and other residents.

Khan’s wife, Fareeda, was ecstatic after being reunited with her husband.

“After his safe release, my children, other family members and me are really happy and are celebrating his return,” said Fareeda.

For Khan, it’s like a rebirth. He shared his experience of spending days in Naxal captivity.

“The eight days which I spent in the Maoists’ den are unforgettable. Though they (Maoists) did not harm us, but whenever I remembered my family and village, I would feel really sad. It frustrated me a lot,” said Khan.

Khan said the Naxals are gradually becoming active and urged the government to take strict action against them.

It may be recalled that the Maoists had kidnapped sub inspectors Rupesh Kumar Sinha and Abhay Kumar Yadav of Bihar Police, assistant sub inspector Lucas Tete and constable Ehsaan Khan of Bihar Military Police after a gunbattle in the forests of Lakhisarai district of neighbouring Bihar state on August 29.

The Maoists wanted to use these four hostages as bargaining tools to secure the release of eight of their cadres.

They killed Tete, whose bullet-ridden body was later recovered along with a note in the forest on Friday (September 3).

The three remaining policemen were set free unconditionally near Simra Rari in Lakhisarai district of Jharkhand on Monday morning. by Girija Shankar Ojha(ANI)
