1 in 10 Brit women ready to spend 50k pounds on IVF

LONDON - Brit women desperate to be mothers have said that they are ready to spend more than 50,000 pounds on IVF treatments to bear a child.

A recent survey revealed that while most spend on average 15,000 pound on fertility treatment, nine in 10 women said they would be willing to sacrifice almost anything to give birth.

A survey of more than 2,000 women aged 30 to 45 by Red magazine revealed that more than 90 per cent would cut back on saving for the future or find a second job to realise their dream of motherhood.

It found that 38 per cent had struggled to conceive and 10 per cent had undergone some sort of fertility treatment; with the average spend totalling 8,678 pound.

One in 10 women said they would be willing to spend more than 50,000 pound.

“The fertility industry has proved itself to be completely recession-proof,” the Daily Express quoted Sam Baker of Red magazine as saying.

“Women are prepared to make huge financial sacrifices as they do whatever it takes to conceive - cutting back on holidays or pensions in order to boost their chances of having a family,” he added.

However, many attempts at IVF are unsuccessful and 47 per cent of those surveyed said they had failed to get pregnant. (ANI)
