Blair may cancel London appearance over protests
LONDON — Tony Blair says he could cancel a planned public appearance in London to promote his new memoir amid security concerns.
The former British prime minister told ITV television on Monday that a planned signing session at a bookstore could cause unnecessary costs and work for police.
He said he was also worried the far right British National Party may attempt to cause trouble during his scheduled appearance on Wednesday.
Blair says he is concerned over the potential for unrest and is considering whether the signing session should go ahead.
Protesters demonstrating against Blair’s decision to join the 2003 U.S.-led invasion of Iraq hurled shoes and eggs at the ex-lawmaker in Dublin on Saturday.
