Pak military delegates’ humiliation will hit strategic talks with US: Experts

ISLAMABAD - Experts have said that the US-Pakistan Strategic Dialogue process has suffered a serious blow following the cancellation of a Pakistani military delegation’s visit to Florida.
The eight-member delegation, which was to attend a meeting at the US Central Command headquarters, was asked to disembark from a flight at Dulles Airport, Washington, on Tuesday.
Although the delegates disclosed their identities and showed relevant documents, they were reportedly detained for some time. They were cleared later.
The US Department of Defence issued an apology, but the delegates had by that time received directions from Pakistan to cancel the meeting.
Pakistani analysts now believe that the row would have far-reaching implications for Pak-US military relations, war against terror as well as military training programmes being conducted as part of the counterterrorism efforts, The Nation reports. (ANI)
