Kiwi Indian says police doing nothing about home robbery

AUCKLAND - A Kiwi Indian has claimed that Auckland Police are doing nothing about investigating a robbery and ransacking of his home in the Mt. Albert area of the city.
It’s been three weeks since Nagesh Kakanoor’s Mt Albert home was burgled and trashed in broad daylight, but he does not think his case is a priority for the police and is not even confident that the thieves will be caught.
After their home was burgled and trashed, Kakanoor and his family spent an anxious night wondering whether the people who had broken in would return and whether police would come to investigate their complaint, reports New Zealand Herald.
The thieves reportedly broke through the front door of Kakanoor’s home and turned it upside down before leaving with valuable belongings such as mobile phones, silverware and foreign currency.
Kakanoor’s wife Padnapriya, who returned to the house, immediately called the police and was asked not to touch anything.
“They said the crime team will be in touch with you to make an appointment and they will come and see you. They didn’t say when but said they were on a tight schedule, the paper quoted Kakanoor, as saying.
Kakanoor later contacted western area commander Inspector Jim Wilson, whom he had dealt with in the search for his missing brother-in-law, Srikanth Rayadurgam.
“The police were at my place following day about 9 a.m. A lot of my friends were saying it will take at least two or three days for the police to come. When they found out they were there the next day they were saying ‘you’re very lucky’,” said Kakanoor.
The police found nothing during their inquiries, but Kakanoor believes they might have found fingerprints or footprints from his wooden floorboards, had they been there sooner.
“My question to police is they have patrol cars sitting on the motorway trying to get tickets but they won’t come here in the first instance. It can be a very distressing situation for a family,” he added. (ANI)
